Chuy's Big Saturday

This weekend was a big one for Chuy. We went to Red Bud early Saturday morning with a little dog friend she hasn't see much lately, then went straight to agility class, where she got moved up to the intermediate II class. Andrew rode his bike down to class and then we all went out to lunch at one of our favorite spots.

When we got home, Chuy went straight to our bedroom and collapsed on the bed. She was so tired that she wouldn't even sit up when you came over- just wag her little tail. I was blow drying my hair after a shower when I started to hear a really strange noise- it sounded like the motor of my hairdryer was about to blow up. I turned it off, but the noise didn't stop. Then I realized the source- Chuy! Andrew was playing the guitar and she was singing, even though she was too tired to get up and sit next to him the way she normally does.

Tomatillos

I have never cooked with tomatillos before, but Andrew got me one of Rick Bayless's cookbooks for Christmas and everything in it has been really good so far. So tonight we are trying Braised Pork with Tomatillos. The grocery store checkout clerk last night asked us what we were going to do with them because she had never used them either- wish us luck!

Great Salad

I went to my sister's bridal shower this weekend, and had the best salad. It is a little unusual, but so good!

Grape Salad
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 8 oz. cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 ½ pounds green or red (or mixed) grapes
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts
  1. Combine sour cream, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla and mix well until smooth consistency. Add grapes and toss gently. Place in a long serving dish or large bowl. Chill
  2. Just before serving, mix together brown sugar and walnuts and sprinkle over mixture.

Note to self

When hiding candy, remember where you put it! I just had my own Easter egg hunt...
